Every project keeps a shopping list, and the most important lines on it are never in stock. They are found: at flea markets in the Salzkammergut, at small auctions, in the back rooms of ateliers we have visited for years.
Curation is mostly saying no. An object belongs to a room when it shares its colour world, holds its own beside the architecture and has something to say about the people who live there. Three tests — and most pieces fail at least one.
What passes gets photographed, measured and placed in the plan long before the walls are painted, so that the room is built around it rather than the other way round.
